St. Paul’s Foundation becomes the main beneficiary in St. Pauls’ School’s International Day

From now on, St. Paul’s Foundation will be the main charity benefiting from the International Day event, held by the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) of St. Paul’s School. The change comes with the update of the school’s Charities Policy. This change reflects the view that all supported institutions should share the school’s core values - education, research, literacy, science and arts in Brazil and the UK.

In previous years, International Day allocated all funds raised to five institutions: TUCCA, ACER, Liga Solidária, Mão Amiga and British Society. However, this year, St. Paul’s Foundation will be the main beneficiary, receiving 50% of the funds for our scholarship programme. The other 50% will be divided equally between the British Society and Mão Amiga, and the other entities will have the opportunity to collect their own donations while participating in the event. The decision to make the Foundation the main beneficiary connects with the mission for the school’s centenary of having 50 scholars at the Senior School by 2026.

For Iara Rembado, president of the Parents and Teachers Association at St. Paul’s, “it is an honour to be able to help extremely talented students have access to a top quality education in one of the best IB schools in Latin America”.

St. Paul’s Headmaster Titus Edge adds, “Our community’s unwavering support for the St. Paul’s Foundation Scholarship Programme is a testament to our shared vision. It aligns seamlessly with our values, creating a culture of philanthropy and kindness.”

“For the (St. Paul’s) Board of Governors, the creation and growth of the St. Paul’s Foundation has been one of the most important achievements of our School and community in the last several years,” says Philip Reade, chairman of the Board of Governors of St. Paul’s School.

The International Day

The International Day is a tradition at St. Paul’s School, taking place annually for more than two decades. The date seeks to celebrate the different nationalities and cultures of our community, in a day of festivities that brings together more than 1,000 people.

The St. Paul’s Foundation has participated in International Day on other occasions. The work focused on increasing awareness among community members about our Scholarship Programme and supporting other beneficiary institutions. In the last two editions, the Foundation had its own stall, Cup of Joy, a café that was worked by scholars and their families, as well as the Foundation’s own team.

The funds raised this year will be a vital resource that will allow us to continue expanding our reach and impact as, as OSCIP, we rely solely on donations to maintain the Scholarship Programme. With the continued support of our partners and donors, we are confident that we can reach even more people, promoting positive and lasting transformations.
